November 2008- Baking, Bear, and Boys

Just a few more things from good ol' November 2008!

Baking our First Apple Pie! For Thanksgiving I was asked to bring a pie. I decided not to cop out and buy one- so Afton and I baked our first pie together.
Confession: I think I made an apple pie one other time. But I was like 12 (?)- does that count?

I have to say-- it was pretty darn good! Thanks to my friend Amy's recipe blog!

Mr. Bear's exciting drive - I happened to have my camera in the car when Afton decided to give Bear some fresh air. These pics just make me giggle-- so I had to post them!

The boys enjoyed an exciting Ute game (vs BYU). It's not often they all get together for a boys-night-out, so it's a good thing they captured it on film! (How manly of them to go to a football game).

Go Utes! (They won that game, by the way)

November 2008- Horseback Riding

On Trav's birthday we took a Sunday drive to my dad's house. Whit was there and offered to get Little Mare saddled so we could take a ride. This became more of an Afton day - but the birthday boy still had fun! (It's not like we can go wakeboarding in November, anyway).

Sooo not a cowboy. But a cutie all the same!

Boston and his horse dad, Dave were there, too.

November 2008- Afton's first "Dance" performance

I think these photos will speak for themselves, but I'll preface: One of our cute neighbors is on her school's drill team and asked if Afton would be interested in learning a dance to perform at the drill team's yearly concert. Afton said she wanted to do it, so she and about 100 little girls learned the dance in 2 or 3 nights. She had it down and was excited for the show! Well... I think performance night wasn't quite what she expected. The result was quite cute (slash-hilarious)!

Even with a blurry picture, you can see very clearly: she was SO not going to cooperate!
We knew it was going to be an interesting 2 minutes at this point.

No- she wasn't supposed to stand in the middle of the circle while everyone else laid on their bellies.
And, no she wasn't supposed to take her arms out of her sleeves, and as a result throw her mom and dad into a state of panic (I think Trav and I were chanting in a tense whisper: "PLEASE don't take off your shirt, PLEASE don't take off your shirt!!! )

The arms stayed tucked away the rest of the performance until the final bow when only one decided to reappear.

Even when it was all over- not one smile, nope, not ONE!
She's still a little star, though! :)

November 2008: Zoo Times

Here are some pics of our day at the zoo. It was a beautiful autumn day- and not too crowded. We went with my sis, Mariah- her hubby, Dave, and their little guy, Boston.

Afton LOVES the zebras!

I love how I'm the only one in this picture who knows it's fall-
Trav and Afton like to dress like it's summer all year long. :)

Dave had his arms full!

Is that a hug or a head-lock? I guess the smiles indicate all is well!
